Passion Builds Resilience, Letter from Our CEO

December 31, 2024

“Kites rise highest against the wind, not with it.”

                                                               —Winston Churchill

(New York, 31 December 2024) - As we close out another year, it's a moment to pause and reflect. 2024 has been a year of both challenges and growth—much like a tough tennis match, with its highs and lows. And as in any competition, it’s not about avoiding the lows—it’s about how you respond to them that defines the winner.

While some won’t make the cut, there are good things that come out of fierce competition. First and foremost, it forces us out of our comfort zones. It pushes us to get better, to be better. It fosters new relationships and partnerships. And it sparks creativity. The flip side of this is the pressure that comes with fierce competition; the pressure that can go to our very core - questioning our skills, and challenging our morals, our foundation.

In tennis, the best players know that every match isn’t won with perfect shots. Roger Federer’s commencement speech at Dartmouth summarized it beautifully: It’s the players who endure, who stay resilient in the face of tough rallies, and who keep their focus on the bigger picture that ultimately rise to the top. Similarly, in real estate, while the market throws its own set of challenges, it’s those who play the long game, adapt quickly, and have the passion to keep pushing forward who will succeed.

What separates the winners from the losers in both tennis and real estate is passion and resilience. At Motko, we’ve embraced this mindset as our guiding principle. Our mission is clear: we thrive to build properties that go beyond the ordinary. To create spaces and communities that help people live longer, be healthier, and deliver superior financial performance.

As we move into 2025, I encourage us all to remember that the future may be uncertain, but it’s our passion, resilience, and ability to adapt that will guide us. In real estate, and in life, the buildings we create aren’t just defined by their walls — they’re defined by the stories we build and the people we touch.

To all our partners- thank you for being part of this journey. I’m excited to continue building, growing, and, yes, fighting for what we believe in. Passion fuels resilience, and resilience builds the future.

Here’s to a healthy, happy, and wealthy 2025.

Kind and sporty regards,

Kira
